Kris Brecknridge – Captain

Captain Kris came to San Juan Enterprise early in 2019 and equipped with more than just a ton of knowledge, talent, and a level head for the task at hand. He was able to glean enough from Cap’t Dan’s 35 years of learning to form a strong foundation of safely and efficiently operating the many different aspects of ‘barging in the San Juan Islands’ and beyond.

Born and raised in lovely Anacortes WA, Kris started earning a living around and on the salt water around 1996 in the Alaska, Cali, and the local fishing racket, then picking up his Dad, Brad’s aptitude for crane operating and forklifting. Those are vocations like this present one, where complacency is not taken lightly and to go from hero to zero in an instant always hangs heavy over one’s head.

From 2007 for ten years Kris worked and played with the BMW Oracle Racing team as a most trusted crane operator for a many million dollar delicate speed/sail boat and supplies manager,  chasing and catching two America’s Cup wins.

Most important to Kris is his family, Keri, Sienna, and Sebastian who, together, experienced living in San Fran and Bermuda with the racing show, now they are joined with the cool Coot Dog and settled back in Skagit Valley.

When not plying the local waters at the helm of the San Juan Enterprise you can find him occasionally piloting the Guemes Ferry back and forth, happy at home, or road tripping with his fam at the wheel of their VW Westie.

Corey Joyce – Owner/Captain

I started commercial fishing in Alaska right out of High School. I spent many years chasing Salmon, bottom fish, and crab. In the off season I would spend time looking for the infamous “Spot Shrimp”. I set my first pot in the early 90’s and has been my favorite fishery ever since. I have been navigating boats in the San Juan Islands for over 30 years, and can’t get enough. I built the F/V Dillon B in 2014 to start my own Puget Sound crab business (San Juan Adventures). Over the past 5 seasons I have learned the harder you work, the more crab you catch…. I work hard!

In January 2021 I decided to take another leap and become the new owner of San Juan Marine Freight.  A new adventure has started and I couldn’t be more happy.
